Our Project
Our Project
The Academy is working with trusted producers in both Malta, mainland Italy and Sicily to bring our clients the very best monovarietal extra virgin olive oils from the central Mediterranean region. We also in the process of sourcing exceptional extra virgin olive oils from Greece, Algeria and Tunisia.
Fulfilling this requirement takes time and perseverance but our team are passionate about fine and rare olive oils and preserving olive varieties that are in danger of disappearing due to either lack of interest by governments and local agricultural bodies or ongoing economic pressures on growers.

The Academy is building up a database which will hold details of endangered olive varieties and from this we will endeavour to contact and work with the small producers who are still growing these olive varieties.
Where possible will help them promote their oils to the wider public and in the course of time they can increase the quantity of extra virgin olive oil they can produce.

In early 2020 we were in touch with Slow Food International and their advisor regarding our work with olive oil producers in the Mediterranean region as we had already started cooperating on a project regarding fine and rare olive oils with Slow Food Mediterranean.
Both these organisations are offering support to our project and we will more closely with them in the coming years.

Olive Oil Certification
The Academy is committed to help small producers across the Mediterranean who cannot arrange for analysis and certification themselves.

As part of our offering to these small producers we will work with them to get their olive oils certified by an Italian international panel of experts who can guarantee the highest European standards and so allow the olive oils to be sold not just in the country where they are produced and bottled but internationally where required.

The law in the EU about olive oil certification is very strict and widely enforced, it requires full chemical analysis and certification of all olive oils produced across the member states, this protects producers from unscrupulous companies and fraudulent producers who sell their substandard oils as extra virgin.
The link to the EU website regarding certification is found in Olive oil in the EU

Do get in touch for more information and arrange to send us your olive oil to be certified as Extra Virgin.
We aim to offer you the finest and less known EVOOs from the Mediterranean so we strongly believe that by publishing the analysis that we authorise every year is important in deciding whether to use an olive oil as part of our project and is a very important aspect of our ethos.
Please see below the analysis from a certified ONAOO panel in the Italian region on Liguria for the Bidnija 2020 and the Dolce di Rossano 2020 analysis from a certified ASSAM panel in the Italian region of Le Marche.
